Yanina was born in the town of Volkovysk, Grodno region. At the time of the birth of the girl, this area belonged to Poland. Yana grew up in a family of circus performers. Her father Josef Boleslav Zeimo created a family troupe, which included himself, his wife Anna, son Vaclav and four daughters, of which the future screen star was the youngest.
