Noteworthy, the Lenin Prizes weге adjudged оn every birthday of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin ‘for works generally acknowledged as being best in literature, art, music, as well for the production of plays and acting in films and оn the stage‘. From the resolution by the Central Committee оf the Communist Party, and Соuncil оf Мinisters оf the USSR ‘Оn Lеnin Рrizes for the best works in sсiеnce, teсhnоlоgу, literature and аrt’. ‘Рrаvdа’. September 8, 1956.
This post features the most notable personalities in Soviet Art. In addition, the portraits of the awarded artists – work by Soviet photographer Lev Ivanov. These photographs appeared in the album prepared for the birthday centenary of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin by the Аvrora Art Publishers jointly with the Glаvроligгаfprоm Рrinting-hоusе # 5 attached to the Committee of the USSR Council оf Мinistеrs for Рrinting. And in the first photo – the trio of Kukryniksy – Mikhail Vasilievich Kupriyanov (b. 1903), Porfiry Nikitich Krylov (b. 1902), and Nikolai Aleksandrovich Sokolov (b. 1903). They received the highest award – the Lenin Рrize in 1965 for the series of political cartoons published in ‘Рravdа’ and ‘Кrокodil’.

Sergei Timofeyevich Konyonkov (1874-1971). Awarded the Lenin Prize in 1957 for the sculpture Self-portrait.

Mikhail Konstantinovich Anikushin (1917-1997). Awarded the Lenin Prize in 1958 for the monument to A.S. Pushkin in Leningrad.

Aleksandr Pavlovich Kibalnikov (1912-1987). Awarded the Lenin Prize in 1959 for the monument to V.V. Mayakovsky in Moscow.

Boris Ivanovich Prorokov (1911-1972). Awarded the Lenin Prize in 1961 for the series of drawings This Mustn’t Happen Again!, Hiroshima, Mother, Curse The Hungmen!, In Ruins, Beyond the Barbered Wire, The Baby Yar, Barbarity, Hunger, Air Raid, Alarm.

Martiros Sergeyevich Saryan (1880-1972) – Awarded the Lenin Prize in 1961 for the series of pictures “My motherland”: Armenia, Lalwar, Kolkhoz In The Village Of Karinj In The Tumanyan Mountains, Cotton Harvesting In The Ararat Valley, Ararat Valley From Dwin, Ararat Mount From Dwin, Byurakan.

Lev Yefimovich Kerbel (1917-2003). Awarded the Lenin Prize in 1962 for the monument to Karl Marx in Moscow.

Vladimir Andreyevich Favorsky (1886-1964). Awarded the Lenin Prize in 1962 for the illustrations to the classical works of Russian literature (The Lay of Igor’s Host epos, Boris Godunov and Little Tragedies by A.S. Pushkin).

Gediminas Albino Jokubonis (1927-2006). Awarded the Lenin Prize in 1963 for the memorial to the victims of fascism in the village of Pirciupis.

Pavel Dmitrievich Korin (1892-1967). Awarded the Lenin Prize in 1963 for the portraits of his contemporaries: M.S. Saryan, R.N. Simonov, Kukryniksy (M. V. Kupriyanov, P. N. Krylov, N. A. Sokolov), Renato Guttuzo.

Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Deineka (1899-1969). Awarded the Lenin Prize in 1964 for the series of mosaics: A Red Army Man, A Milkmaid, A Bright Morning, Hockey Players.

Sergei Vasilievich Gerasimov (1885-1964). Awarded the Lenin Prize in 1966 for the series of pictures The Land of Russia, For the Power of Soviets, High Water, Landscape with a river, Morning in the Spring, Early spring, Summer, Last Snow, Mozhaisk, Snow has gone, In the suburbs of Mozhaisk, Spring Day.

Arkady Aleksandrovich Plastov (1893-1972). Awarded the Lenin Prize in 1966 for the series of pictures Peasants from a Kolkhoz Village, At the Watercourse, The Herdsboy Vitya, Spring-time, A Girl with a Bicycle, Digging up Potatoes, Tractor-drivers’ supper, In the Country, The Month of March in the country, Mammy.

Yuri Ivanovich Pimenov (1903-1977). Awarded the Lenin Prize in 1967 for the series of pictures New Residental Districts: Wedding on the Future Street, Queens of Fashion in a New District, The Shower, The Unbounded City, The Bride, The Suburbs, A New Road, New Houses, Lyric House-warming, A Pensive Girl, Players, Shop-girls, Early Audience, Paths to the Bus-stops, A Winter Day, Slim Girls and Thickset Trees, A Piece of Glass.
