Soviet artist Irina Nikolaevna Popova 1923-1988
Soviet artist Irina Nikolaevna Popova – a member of the Moscow branch of the USSR Union of Artists (1958), the daughter of a famous painter Nikolay Popov (1890-1953). Irina Popova was born in Moscow on October 31, 1923. In 1940-1943 she studied at the Moscow Art School in memory of 1905, in the workshops of V.N. Baksheyev and L.I. Aronov. In 1943-1950 she studied at the Faculty of Painting of the State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov, workshop of S.V. Gerasimov, diploma painting – “Combat Mission”. Since 1951, continuously participated in Moscow, republican and all-Union exhibitions of Soviet Art.
In 1967, 1970 was her creative trips to South Sakhalin, together with her husband, artist of Grekov studio V.I. Pereyaslavets. They have created a series of paintings and graphic works about the life of Soviet border guards. In 1971 were creative trips to Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Personal exhibition of paintings and graphics took place in Moscow in 1973 and 1978. In 1975, after a creative trip to Italy she has created a series of watercolor paintings “In Italy”. Main works of the artist: “Children draw” (1961) “Artek-Friends” (1962), “Natasha with a pie” (1964), “Honored aviatrix VF Stoyanovskaya” (1966), “To the March” (1967), “Natasha Kravtsova – Hero of the Soviet Union” (1969), “Holiday” (1969), “Sleeping Masha” (1972), and “Initiative” (1973-1974).
Her son, Mikhail Vladimirovich Pereyaslavets (born 1949) – sculptor, and her daughter Maria Vladimirovna Pereyaslavets (born 1964) – an artist.
Soviet artist Irina Nikolaevna Popova died July 7, 1988 in Moscow.
