Crimean landscapes. Soviet painter Victor Kovalenko
Soviet painter Victor Kovalenko was born in 1930 in the town of Tuapse, Krasnodar region of Russia. The most vivid and memorable event in a sad childhood was the war. The boy was then only 11 years old, and he could not take part in hostilities. But what was happening around, strongly influenced Victor: “When the war started, I was a kid, but I remember it like today. This is the strongest shock of my life. ” The talent of the artist’s most fully revealed in the painting of the battle scenes. The main topics of concern to the artist – the Black Sea Fleet, Sevastopol, the defense of the city; and a creative collection and seascapes and paintings on historical themes. It should be noted that every piece of the artist is the carefully studied story and then reflected on the canvas.
Victor Karpovich Kovalenko studied at Krasnodar Art School, graduated from Dnepropetrovsk Art College, and then, in 1962 – Kharkov State Art Institute. He served in the Navy, a reserve officer. In 1952 he participated in the All-Union Exhibition of the fleets of the USSR Artists in Moscow. In 1967 he became the member of the USSR Union of Artists. Soviet painter Victor Kovalenko is an Honoured Artist of Crimea, lives and works in Sevastopol. From 1975 to 1982 he was the deputy of the Sevastopol City Council. From 1990-1992 Kovalenko was the first chairman of the Sevastopol city organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
Kovalenko participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions. The main genre creativity of Victor Kovalenko – landscapes and battle scenes. His works are in 12 museums in Crimea, Ukraine and Russia, as well as in private galleries in England, the USA, Turkey, Germany. His works were purchased by the Ministry of Culture, Artistic Fund of Ukraine, the Directorate of exhibitions and dioramas of Ukraine. Reproductions of works by the artist printed in magazines “Obrazotvorche Mistetstvo” (Kiev), “Ukraine” (Kiev), “Dnipro” (Kiev), “Sea collection” (Moscow), “Soviet soldier” (Moscow), “Warrior of Russia” (Moscow ). Pictures of Sevastopol artist are in museums, private and gallery collections in Ukraine, Russia, USA, England, Turkey, Germany.
